Question: I or actually myself and my hunting partner have a question. Does harvesting morels early diminish next years harvest?

Chris’ Answer: Morels begin releasing spores daily after they have emerged above ground for about 5 days, slowly at first, peaking around their 15th day of growth, but continue releasing spores until fully matured, or around 21 days. If at all possibel, such as it  being your own land, you should let them mature so they can release a higher number of spores, but also to get much larger mushrooms! I often even blow on them after I pick them…
