Please note: This foray will be filmed and air on national television on our new reality series about mushroom hunting! If you do not want to be on TV, that is fine, you do not have to be interviewed or anything, but filming shots as a group, it is impossible to omit you entirely from being filmed.

2011 Illinois Morel Foray

      Come and join Chris Matherly and Levena in the great state of Illinois, and hunt on over 1000 acres of prime private land loaded with dead elms!  This event will be held at the  Chestnut Mountain Resort  near Galena Illinois where our group of morel hunters will stay at the Resort lodge and hunt on over 1000 acres of private property for prime morel hunting. Don't miss out on this fun filled event, Limited to the first 20 registrants!

Chris will give "hands-on" instruction! But even if you are an old-tyme die-hard Morel Hunter, you won't want to miss this great opportunity to hunt with Chris and taste some of his wonderful cooking!

The Food: (The meal alone would go for upwards of $75 per plate in a nice restaurant)

We first start off with a delicious appetizer- Stuffed Jalapeņos, with morels, cream cheese, bacon bits, and ramps or wild onions.

Then, we have a side-dish of a wild edible plant such as Poke or Nettles, something very unique and delicious.

Then of course, fried Morels!

Wild Mushroom Soup- This is my specialty, many have told me "this is literally the best soup I've ever  had!"

Grilled steak, topped with mushroom sauce and finally...

Mushroom alfredo pasta! (Sometimes topped with fiddleheads)

What is included?

* Sunday Night Meet and Chat at the Resort. A cooking demo will be done!

* 1 1/2- Days of guided Morel hunting.

* Lunch and drinks for Day One.

* A very nice Morel Club T-Shirt w/ Foray date and location on the back.

* A DVD movie of our foray and events (mailed to you within 12 months of the event).

* A Mushroom presentation at the Lodge on Monday Eve by Chris Matherly.

Where:   To be held at the  Chestnut Mountain Resort  near Galena Illinois where our group of morel hunters will stay at the Resort lodge and hunt on over 1000 acres of private property for prime morel hunting. The closest hotel is back in Galena about 8 miles away. Lodging at Chestnut Mountain will be a group rate of aprox. $89.00 per night.

When:   Sunday night meet and greet May 4th, All day hunt May 5th, Hunt and dinner Tuesday May 6th, 2014

Deadline for registration: April 21st, 2014 (full payment must be received by this date)

Requirements: Simply be a current member of the Morel Mushroom Hunting Club-
